Our jet lag IV drip in Khao Lak brings fluids, electrolytes and vitamins to your hotel room or villa after a long-haul flight, given by a registered nurse who stays with you the whole time. A drip can’t reset your body clock, but rehydrating after many hours of dry cabin air may help you feel more like yourself while your sleep pattern catches up. You rest on the bed, we bring everything.
Most of our guests in high season arrive from Europe, often after an overnight flight into Phuket, a connection somewhere in Asia or the Middle East, and a drive of an hour or more up the coast. By the time you check in, you may have been travelling for the best part of a day. It is no surprise that the first afternoon by the pool can feel like a blur.
Who this jet lag drip is for
This drip is designed for travellers who have just arrived and want a gentle start to their holiday. It may suit you if:

- You have flown in from Europe, Australia or further afield and feel drained and dehydrated
- You didn’t drink much on the plane, or had a glass or two of wine and coffee instead
- The heat and humidity of Khao Lak hit you hard on arrival
- You have a short trip, a wedding or a dive trip coming up and don’t want to lose the first days
- You are a resident returning from a long trip home and need to get back to work
Some guests book the same drip later in the trip as an energy IV drip in Khao Lak, for example after a few busy days of tours and late dinners. The idea is the same: rehydrate, top up vitamins and rest.
What’s in the jet lag IV drip
Jet lag and energy drips like this commonly contain the ingredients below. The nurse will talk you through what goes into your own drip before it starts.

- IV fluids with electrolytes – a sterile salt-and-water solution. Cabin air is dry, and many people drink less than they should on a long flight. Fluids into a vein are absorbed straight away, which may help you feel rehydrated faster.
- B-complex vitamins – vitamins the body uses to turn food into energy. They are a common ingredient in energy drips. Any extra the body doesn’t need is passed out in urine.
- Vitamin C – a water-soluble vitamin involved in many everyday body processes, often added to wellness drips.
- Magnesium – a mineral the body uses for normal muscle and nerve function, sometimes included in drips like this.
To be clear about the limits: no drip changes your body clock. Jet lag is mainly about your internal clock being out of step with local time, and only daylight, sleep and time fix that. The drip is there to help with the dehydration and fatigue that often come with a long journey.
How it works
- You book. You can book before you fly, so the visit is planned for after you check in, or message us once you have arrived. We cover Bang Niang, Nang Thong, Khuk Khak, Pakarang Cape, Bang Sak, Khao Lak Lamru and Takua Pa. Message us to check availability and arrival time.
- Health screening. The registered nurse asks about your health, medication, allergies and your journey, and checks your vital signs. After a long flight the nurse will also ask about any leg pain or swelling.
- The drip. A small cannula goes into your arm using sterile, single-use equipment. Many people doze off. The nurse stays with you throughout and can tell you how long your drip is likely to take.
- Aftercare. The nurse removes the cannula, checks you over and gives you simple advice for your first days in Khao Lak.

Jet lag recovery in Khao Lak: simple tips
The NHS advice on jet lag says it usually improves within a few days as your body adjusts. These habits, many of them from that advice, help more than anything else:

- Switch to local time as soon as you land, for meals and for sleep
- Get outside in daylight, for example a morning walk on Nang Thong or Bang Niang beach
- Keep any nap short, and avoid sleeping through the whole afternoon
- Drink water regularly, and go easy on caffeine and alcohol for the first day or two
- Stay in the shade in the middle of the day, as heat makes tiredness worse

Who shouldn’t have this drip
A jet lag drip isn’t suitable for everyone, and it never replaces medical care. The nurse may decline or postpone your drip if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have a heart condition, kidney disease or high blood pressure, or have been told to limit fluids or salt
- Take regular medication, especially blood thinners or medicines for heart or kidney problems
- Have allergies to any ingredient or to medicines in general
- Feel ill rather than just tired, for example with a fever
When to see a doctor instead. After a long flight, pain, swelling, warmth or redness in one leg can be a sign of a blood clot (deep vein thrombosis) and needs a doctor promptly. Call 1669 or go straight to hospital if you have sudden shortness of breath, chest pain or cough up blood, as these can be signs of a clot in the lungs. A fever, confusion or exhaustion that doesn’t lift after a few days also needs medical advice, not a drip.
Jet lag IV drip Khao Lak FAQs
Will a drip cure my jet lag?
No. Jet lag is about your body clock, and only time, daylight and sleep reset it. A drip may help you feel rehydrated and less drained in the meantime, but how much it helps varies from person to person.
When is the best time to have it?
Many guests book it for the afternoon or evening of the day they arrive, after checking in and having something to eat. Try to stay awake until a sensible local bedtime afterwards, so your sleep starts to shift to Thai time.
Can I book before I arrive?
Yes. Message us with your hotel and expected check-in time and we will check availability. If your flight is delayed, just let us know and we will look at a new time.
Is a jet lag drip in Thailand different from one at home?
The idea is the same. What changes is the climate: arriving into tropical heat after a long flight makes dehydration more likely, which is one reason a jet lag drip in Thailand is a popular first-day choice.
Book your jet lag drip
Send us your hotel or villa, your arrival day and a rough time, and we will confirm when the nurse can visit. We will ask a few health questions in advance so you can rest as soon as possible. New to us? Read how our mobile IV drip service in Khao Lak works.
